Video Game Tester Needed

Monday, November 30th, 2009

It’s not easy to find a position for a video game tester but it’s very possible. If you want to get a video game tester, you need to position yourself very well. What do I mean by this? Video game testing is unlike playing video games for fun. And it doesn’t mean that as a gamer like you; you are not qualified for the job, but you need to bear in mind that testing games require how well you are able to detect bugs. I have arranged some steps I think you can use to find a place where a video game tester is needed.

Get In Touch

Video game tester jobs are not easy to find on magazines, websites or even classified sections of newspapers. You need to approach those video game producers and show that what you can offer. If you live in one of the big cities, you can make time to visit video game producers like Microsoft Xbox, Code Masters, Sony, Nintendo and the rest of others, and prove to them that you could make a good testing job. Tell them how many games you’ve played, the ones you own and anything convincing to make them give you a testing job. If you have friends that work in video game companies, it’s another alternative you can use to get a testing job.

Most video game companies have offices in big cities and have friends that were able to get a video game testing job through this approach. Some video game companies display their ads on its website when a tester is needed, it’s your responsibility as one who is hungry for a testing job to find those ads, read them and make proper use of them to get what you need. Hopefully, you might get a video game testing job. Most public video game testing is done at home, so always check your mail to see whether you’ve got any testing job. When the games get to you, take time to read through the instructions that came with it and memorize them very well in order to get the best out of what its expected of you. Remember that your main role as a video game tester is discover bugs and file your report, so test the games over and over again. Video game producers are not really gamers, so they believe the best people for the job are gamers. Test the games over and over again until you are satisfied with the results, send your feedback to the company that assigned you the games to test.

Bear in mind that time factor is very important, so don’t waste time testing the games. After submitting your first assignment, you relax and wait for your checks at the mail. Expect more testing jobs and deliver as soon as possible. Reputation is built over time, the more you impress the company with your services, the more you build your reputation. The pay for a video game testing is very attractive, you should expect to earn $20-$50 per hour or $150 per day depending on the amount of hours you spend testing the games, that’s a huge sum of money when and even more when capitalized on a monthly basis.

Game Playing and Marketing Games Offer You a Unique Way to Entertain – And Sell at the Same Time!

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Whilst experimenting with social networks, user-generated content and on line video, marketers appear content to view games as little more than another advertising platform. The untapped potential of game playing lies in their ability to tell stories, thereby more closely linking brand benefits with game play and blurring the lines between brand and entertainment. Games, properly structured, fundamentally alter the customers perception to the presentation and content of your marketing messages thus making the advertisements themselves a source of meaningful information.

Games allow Brands to become engaging, interactive and entertaining — thereby providing something of value in exchange for attention. Brands such as Persil, Birds Eye and Quaker Oats have relied on game playing to create narratives that consumers want to be a part of. In the process, they’ve done more than just break through the clutter, or better position themselves in consumer’s minds.

Games remain one of the biggest untapped opportunities for marketers, for the simple fact that they are, indeed, engaging interactive and entertaining. Well-conceived games require users’ active attention and enable them to drive the story line as they experience a world that can be entirely of a brand’s making. Games represent a unique opportunity for brands to be the entertainment rather than just sponsor it.

So what do original games get you?

If you’re Quaker Oats, you get year-over-year double-digit sales growth, as well as a marketing program that has generated significant revenue.

So what does this mean for marketers?

It demonstrates that there’s a burgeoning mainstream audience increasingly receptive to branded entertainment in the form of original episodic games and willing to grant brands their attention in exchange for enjoyable experiences.

Games need to be implemented strategically. As with any marketing approach, objectives and performance expectations for game-based marketing need to be considered upfront. Here are some things to keep in mind: A game tends to work best as a component of an integrated campaign rather than an afterthought.

Original episodic games can counteract this imbalance by delivering a high level of play and replay value to consumers while putting the brand at the center of the experience.

So does a brand need to be interesting or provocative in order to make a good game? Absolutely not. All our examples show that basic games deployed and used well were effective at making a low-involvement category more interesting and engaging. And implemented properly, games could address many of the challenges facing financial-services companies — building involvement, generating a prospect database, creating a sense of community, even delivering a positive brand halo.

Innovation requires risk. Being among the first to jump into a new medium is never an easy proposition for a marketer, but games offer a new and distinctive opportunity for brands to tell their stories to consumers — and, in the process, to make themselves interactive and entertaining.

We must always remember that Television is an advertising medium, not a communications medium and, as television declines in the face of competition from the new media, conventional advertising will decline with it. Game playing is a substantially more effective way of marketing than one-way TV advertising.

People develop strong bonds when empathetic connections exist between parties involved in a relationship.

The term customer loyalty has become a mantra, but we’ve never read any words about the criticality of empathetic linkage in fostering customer loyalty.

That’s because most marketing is still based on objective models which play down the importance of behaviour. Objective marketing is more conducive to mental manipulation of consumers than to establishing empathic linkages.

Many Marketing Directors have told us all, time and time again, in so many words, “At the end of the day, marketing is a numbers game. To increase sales, you increase exposure to get an increase in the number of consumers in your traffic flow.”

But protagonists of the various relationships marketing philosophies say things have changed.

Customers are defining marketing. That moves the discipline from its objective, numbers-defined foundations to a subjective feelings-defined foundation that some people are already calling “the experience economy,” and others call “The Dream Society.”

Marketers have been trying to meet the challenges of the experience economy mainly with technology.

Personalization software such as offered by Net Perceptions and BroadVision and multitudinous products sold as customer relationship management (CRM) tools are all about: deployment of massive data base systems to capture as much details about consumers as possible to gain maximum advantage over their minds.

That is the prime intent of objective marketing models: conquest and control. Otherwise, what accounts for all the military metaphors used in marketing?

Companies need to come down from their Ivory Towers and talk to the people with whom they hope to create relationships. This can be successfully achieved through game playing.

Up until a few years ago advertising was the province of a privileged few to the passive many. Now the ownership of moving images has passed into the hands of practically everybody and the articulation of moving images has passed into the hands of everybody with access to a phone, laptop or digital camera. We can now have our say.”

In essence, the behavior of the audience is moving from passive to active participation so that TV watching or listening to radio in the future will be a very different and less sedentary experience than it has been in the past 80 years.

Ultimate power isn’t with brand owners or even with broadcasters, and most certainly doesn’t exist with the Advertising Agencies at all! It’s with the viewer. And it’s the on/off switch!

Game playing fundamentally alters your relationship with your customers and effectively cuts through all the problems experienced by marketing programs at the same time allowing customers to have their say.

How To Download Games Onto PSP

Monday, November 30th, 2009

The hot thing today is the PSP. If you don’t have one, you may not understand why. If you do, you understand the draw of it. The PSP is a piece of equipment that goes far beyond a portable video game.

The games are on a small disk known as a UMD that can be carried around easily. There are also memory sticks that you can use to store games on. So, how do you download games onto your PSP from your computer?

Here is your guide:

When programmers design games specifically for the PSP, they are sometimes referred to as Homebrew Games. Some of these Homebrew Games are made for the PSP game console to mimic games made for other systems so you do not have to have every console made in order to play every game.

For example, a game that was made for Nintendo may be Homebrewed to play with your PSP console so you can have the fun of the Nintendo, but not the expense. This is just one of the many selling points for the PSP because you can download Homebrew PSP games from just about anywhere you look online.

To download a game on to PSP from the Internet, you will need a PSP memory stick with sufficient memory. It is advisable that the stick have at least 1GB of memory to accommodate graphic, sound and any personal settings. However, these cards can get expensive, so if you do not have one or do not have the money to buy one, a 256 MB stick will most likely work. If your stick is brand new, it will have to be formatted before downloading.

An important note: you will need your PSP Firmware version 1.5 or less. If you have a newer PSP you may have to downgrade.

It is quite simple to download games for PSP from the Internet to your PC , then move the files from your computer to the PSP itself. When you hook up the PSP to the PC via a USB cable, the PC will recognize it as a removable memory device. Then the computer will assign a drive; usually the f: drive; and then you can simply drag and drop your PSP game files to the memory stick.

After the games for the PSP are transferred to the memory stick, tell the computer you want to disconnect the PSP. Once the computer gives the ‘all clear’ you can safely remove the PSP.

The PSP’s main menu will have a listing called GAME and press the Memory Stick option. After pressing X, a list is displayed of the games on your memory stick. If there is an error displayed, you might want to check the version of Firmware you are using.

Now that you know how to download games onto PSP …go out there and give it a shot. This is a technique that has been used to download games onto PSP countless times.

Birthday Party Games for Younger Kids (4-6 Years Old)

Monday, November 30th, 2009

t is important to remember that when choosing a birthday party game for kids between the ages of 4 and 7 years old, that they do tend to get bored very quickly and easily. Also, at the younger range of the age scale, they do not understand or they may still be learning the concept of sharing. So if choosing a game where prizes are given, it is important to remember that every kid MUST receive a prize in order to keep the kids for fighting or throwing temper tantrums.

A game that would be entertaining and prize giving, whilst stimulating the kids’ minds. Some of the games would include pass the parcel, but with a difference.

Instead of the traditional pass the parcel where kids sit in a circle, passing a parcel that has a number of different layers of wrapping paper on it, to music, and when the music stops that kid takes off one layer of the wrapping paper and the kid that unwraps the final layer on the gift, wins that gift. You can customize your game of pass the parcel, so that the kids are a little more active.

First of all, purchase blue and pink wrapping paper, to signify the difference between boys and girls. Have a number of small inexpensive presents, which you wrap up individually, obviously presents for boys in blue paper and presents for girls in pink paper. Place all of the wrapped presents into a large cardboard box. Then take an empty box like a cereal box, and wrap it in pretty birthday party paper, so that it represents one single gift.

The kids will still sit in a circle on the floor and pass the single gift around the circle to music. But when the music stops, the kid holding the parcel has to stand up and sing a song, or a nursery rhyme. If they succeed in doing this, they can then choose a gift from the box, a pink gift for girls and a blue gift for boys. They then join the circle again and continue with the game, until all of the presents have gone. It is normal to aim for approximately four or five presents per kid.

The presents should simple and can be non-gender specific (to make your life easier). Some examples include:

- Candies

- Stickers

- Magic Tricks

- Bouncy balls

- Fancy erasers

- Coloring books

- Pens and pencils

- Rubber insects

- Coloring pencils

- Figures and Models, etc

The kid’s mind will remain stimulated as well as them being entertained. Not only will they have to think of a song to sing or a rhyme to say in order to receive a gift, but they will be so excited and concentrated on the music stopping when they have hold of the gift that the time will pass very quickly.

Try out this game. It’s very interesting.

Copy PS3 Games at the Push of a Button!

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Without doubt the Ps3 has revolutionized the gaming industry and has quickly become one of the most successful gaming systems to hit the shelves. However a lot of people are wondering much like its predecessors if the games can be backed up or copied to their computers so the original game can be kept away in a safe place. The good thing is that much like its predecessors, you can copy ps3 games.

Now to copy ps3 games it is not hard, in fact it’s quite simple. You see just about everybody who has used a computer has at one time or another burned a CD or DVD using bundled software that often came with the computer. Now to copy ps3 games you basically need to take the same steps.

There is one point to note however. Many of the companies that make these games have built in copyright protection on their disks which in essence makes it impossible to make backups or copies of the games, so bundled software that comes with your computer may not be able to copy ps3 games.

There is however other software companies that have software which is able to essentially ’skip’ these protection guards on the disk so you can in fact backup the game of your choice. Now this software is very easy to use and in conjunction with your DVD burner you can be backing up your favorite games in no time.

For a brief rundown of what one would do to copy ps3 games you would simply insert your disk into your computer so an ‘image’ of the game can be made and stored to your hard drive. You can then load this special software and it will burn a copy of the game to the appropriate media for you to play later on, quite simple really.

Another great point about this software is that not only will it copy ps3 games but it will also make backups of Xbox, Xbox 360, Wii,Ps2, Nintendo Lite, GameCube and even Dreamcast games so if you happen to have any one of these consoles as well you can make backups of these also.

Watch NFL Games Online – You Too Can Watch The Games For Free

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Looking for some great football action right on your desktop? Wanting to watch NFL games online? Look no further than two different options. Game Pass is perhaps not the best alternative if you live outside North America, but, this website allows you, for the first time in NFL history of broadcasting on the web, a full season of games. If you have high speed internet connectivity, you may or may not have luck to watch NFL games online as there have been reports of bandwidth problems, especially if you own a MAC computer. I have found the best solution for this.

Any fan of NFL can watch over 180 games in High Definition over the entire season and watch up to 8 games at a time on your computer screen. This NFL action can also be accessed no matter where you are and it’s all LIVE! You can get live streams of every Sunday ticket game which allows you to get all your favorite team stats and scores.

As this is new for 2007, it has gained a lot of followers yet, but, I think this is the best internet TV station to watch NFL games online, as there’s not much choice. There’s plenty of other football action on other Internet TV stations, like on ESPN360, who may have regular football to offer, but, for true NFL game day experience, you can only tune into one station that currently lets you watch NFL games online.

As an avid football fan of my favorite team, Dallas Cowboys, I found that when I was away on a trip overseas, I could watch NFL games online which I thought I was going to miss; all with a click of a mouse button that allows you to watch games from anywhere in the world and was not limited to certain areas of the world. This is extremely important for us die-hard fans who do not want to miss any action no matter what. You will never miss another NFL game due to other commitments.

Are Video Game Tester Jobs a Scam?

Valuable And True Information About Video Game Tester Jobs

All gamers know that when a new video game is presented they can expect to find some errors in the game. This is pretty common and there is a logical explanation for that. Game developers are not automatically gamers. They create the video game and test it the best way they can, but they don’t fill all the gaps. Their thoughts are fixed on creating a successful product that has to satisfy the customer.

This doesn’t make them ideal video game testers.

Gamers have their own way of thinking and so they see the game in their own, non-economical way, except for the purchasing price of course. This creates the need for game developers to find and fix errors where their own personnel can’t. Gamers find the most glitches in a game, that is just a hard proven fact.

Why Are Video Game Testers So Important?

When you visit a regular gaming forum you can find a lot of posts of gamers reporting flaws. Other gamers post in the same topic until the place becomes a hot spot with the hope the game developers will do something about it. Sometimes it gets really ugly in those forums and because of that the game developers lose reputation and with that some profits too.

Paint yourself a picture here. When gamers find an error in a game, they get irritated. Not only do they get irritated, they talk about it to other gamers, friends and acquaintances. If these people were considering to buy the game, guess what?

Most of them don’t want to buy the game until the problem is fixed.

Game developers know about these things and of course they would like to increase the satisfaction level of their customers and the profits of their company so they actually hire gamers to test games before the games get published. We call these games ‘beta games’.

How Do They Work?

When video game testers test games and find errors, they report it to the game developers, the developers process and fix the problem, create a patch, and upgrade the game.

Just like that.

These new job opportunities are received with open arms. Of course the idea to get paid to test games is very welcome to a lot of people, but the results of the concept are even better.

With the help of video game testers a video game starts its path with much more success. The forums are calmer and the overall customer is more satisfied with off course the everlasting exception of a few people, but that is nothing new.

Where Do I Apply?

So, where can you go to become such a video game tester? There are some sources to check out, but beware, there are many people out there that will try to fool you and rob you of some money and your trust in other sources that might just be what you were looking for. I have created a website and did some research for you, so that you only deal with the sources that have been checked. At the same time you can learn about the advantages and the disadvantages of being a game tester.

Check out the enclosed link of this article to find out more about video game tester jobs. You can also sign up on the site if you wish to be contacted as soon as new information about the concept is available, or even if you want to learn how to make money online.

Thank you and have fun!
